The Bible is by far the best selling book of all time according to The Top Ten of Everything by Russell Ash. Few individuals realize it’s also the most popular book year after year. This book contains valuable messages about many life topics, including the issue of money.
The Bible delivers important messages related to money. 1 Timothy 6:6-10 reads, “So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” There is a pitfall in putting trust in money. Many of us have experienced the emptiness in this misplaced trust. Individuals become disillusioned by thinking that wealth can bring a solution to any and all problems bible verse about family. No amount of money can ever bring us genuine happiness. Whether we are rich or poor, the force of our sinful nature can be overcome only when we trust in God and and rely on Him for His help.
Another powerful message comes from Proverbs 23:4. It reads, “Don’t weary yourself trying to get rich. Why waste your time? For riches can disappear as though they had the wings of a bird.” Arguably, the most common and most subtle sin in our society is materialism. Many individuals exhaust themselves attempting to get more and more money in order to buy and do more things. Money is simply a tool for living and giving, neither good nor bad. It’s the love of money that gets people into trouble. Genuine happiness comes only from serving God and others with the gifts He has given us. Many wealthy people understand this fundamental principle and apply it to their own lives.
If life seems to be a constant challenge, take a moment to think about these biblical messages and how you might apply them into your daily living.
